Tea Cozy: Mystery

It started with a tea cozy. A fluffy, pink-and-white tea cozy with embroidered pink roses on it. It was designed to cover the sterling silver teapot that dear Margie had bought while she was in England. One day, though, the pink roses turned to red, and when Mable lifted the tea cozy she made a most unpleasant discovery. Nobody else heard about the unpleasant discovery for the next three days, which was when one of the neighbors became concerned because of the silence of the house and the strange smell and called the police. When the police arrived, they broke down the front door, which would have made Mable quite sad, because she had hand-sanded and revarnished the old door until it looked as if the 1940s had happened yesterday.

Notes: Is it just me, or is the tone of this channeling Desperate Housewives? Yikes.
