The tone sounded through the crowded concert hall, a single note held high and tight. The soprano closed her mouth in anger and spun around to see where her competition was coming from. The tenor backed away towards stage right. The director ran behind the curtains in search of the singer, leaving a disturbed billow of curtains behind him. The crowd smiled without meaning to. The conductor closed his eyes in a prayer of gratitude and signaled to the bass player to harmonize with that tone, whatever it could be. The soprano let out a shriek and strode from the stage. Nobody in the audience watched her go; their eyes were closed in rapture.

Inspiration: Y'know. Listening to music, "Bela Lugosi's Dead" by Bauhaus, to be specific
Story Potential: I'm completely baffled. I guess that translates to medium.
Finished Length: Short story
Notes: Can't decide if it's a ghost or what. Or if it's fatal to the listeners
