In the middle of the soup course, Celia's cell phone went off. She froze. If she'd learned one thing during her torturous three-week stay with her great-aunt, it was how resistant to anything that might break tradition she was. And a cell-phone going off during dinner was definitely a break with tradition. Celia could hardly answer it, but neither could she just let it ring. She slowly moved her fingers back to her waistband to turn off the phone, but she stumbled over the keys and the phone switched to speaker. "Celia? You there?" a loud and usually chipper voice said. Her friend Marjorie usually sounded like everything was pie-in-the-sky fantastic, and so the note of worry in her friend's voice made Celia twitch. She looked up at her great-aunt, sitting at the head of the table.

Inspiration: Um--a fragment I wrote a long time ago that said something about the metal detector going off in the middle of the soup happened to float through my mind before I started this.
Story Potential: Medium-high. Could be good, but it would have to be constructed from the bones up.
Notes: So her great-aunt tells her to take the call, things are bad, and her great-aunt has unusually good reasons for a strict adherence to tradition as well as unusually good resources. Could be a thriller, mystery, fantasy, adventure...many genre possibilities. Probably novel-length.
