Extensive Damage: Science Fiction
Oct. 14th, 2005 10:26 amThe damage is going to be extensive. The words echoed through molly's head. The damage. . .is going to be. . .extensive. Her vision stuttered, start-stopped, blurred with tears. Extensive. She wanted to ask what they were talking about, but she thought she knew. They'd found out about her affair. The damage to her marriage would be...extensive. But then her husband moved into the skipping frame of her vision, which fluttered like an old TV station with bad reception. "Molly," he told her, "I'll wait for you. I'll stay. I've got faith in you, baby." He bent over the --bed? battleseat? -- and kissed her where her forehead would have been. She didn't feel it--they didn't have the plasteel that good yet--but she knew that he had kissed her because a display glitched into existence showing a security breach, contact, on her forehead.
Inspiration: A line from a really weird rap song.
Story Potential: High?
Notes: Could be interesting, but should remain all fragmented and skippy, like CJ Cherryh in some of the rimrunner books. Oh, and the husband knows. There's a conspiracy of some sort going on, Molly's all caught up in it, and boy is she not functioning perfectly right now.
