Tangible Fear: Fantasy
Jan. 5th, 2006 12:14 pmThe fears that crept up the stairs after her, hiding in the shadows, were the same ones that dogged her heels during the day. She could not see them, she could not feel them, but she knew that they were there, and physical, not merely the product of a stressful schedule and an overworked imagination. She went to her psychiatrist regularly, and she talked about a wide variety of things that most would shy away from--from her sexual problems with her current boyfriend to the dissociative identity crisis that they both agreed stemmed from her abandonment by her mother at an early age--but she never mentioned that she knew the fears were tangible and real, not merely another figment dreamed up.
Inspiration: "Sparks" by Faith and the Muse
Story Potential: Medium.
Notes: Fears are minions sent from another world to hound her--blahblahblah--or maybe are merely drawn to her because of origin. Yes, it comes back to the abandoning mother. Again, not a very original idea.
