Octopus: Science Fiction
Feb. 7th, 2006 10:14 amThe octopus flattened itself to slide behind a plastic model pirate ship. Only its tentacles hung over the sides, wrapped around its new prize. She sighed, seeing that. She thought that the octopus had decided that the pirate ship was its wife. It made her sad, seeing the creature so desperate for companionship that it would choose something totally incapable of returning its affection. Just like her, she supposed. She leaned over and flipped the switch that turned off the lights in the aquarium, leaving the octopus and its love what privacy of the dark she could. She leaned back in bed and looked beside her at the perfect male form that shared the sheets with her. He was, she knew, utterly incapable of returning her affection.
