The pipes shrilled a wild paean to pan. The maidens danced and tossed their hair in hopes of ensnaring one of the young men who danced with greased chests, the firelight flickering off their skin. All was well in the world. The garlands lay ready to bless the new-night wedded couples. Then it all went horribly wrong. One maiden danced too close to the fire. Her foot kicked a garland into the flames, and the blessed myrtle flared up in a spark of green fire that spread quickly, too quickly to be natural. The other maidens stopped dancing and stared, horror-stricken, at the face taking shape in the flames. One of the older crones closed her eyes and prayed--a prayer that she cut off mid-word as she realized that it would only lend power to the creature that stepped forth from the fire.

Inspiration: "Flute Thang" - Meat Beat Manifesto
Story Potential: Medium. The writing on this is awful, but the premise has, shall we say, a small spark.
Notes: Whoops! Look who just married a fire god!
