Goblin Keep: Fantasy

The goblins came out of the ground when all were celebrating May Day. They rose from the ploughed furrows, rough men with knobby features and knees, and they took the keep while all true men slept in the fields. When the true men woke, they found themselves displaced upon the land. This made them turn away from the gods they celebrated on their holy days, for what sort of god was it that could not even protect his followers on his most holy of days? So the men stopped celebrating May Day, and when they'd gathered enough followers and weapons, they stormed the keep walls and reclaimed their castle, leaving the courtyards washed in goblin blood.
