Trouble and Strife: Fantasy
May. 24th, 2006 12:43 pmTrouble and strife ringed around their peaceful little enclave, and all felt the pressure. The blacksmith looked at his forge and wondered how long it would be until he was hammering swords instead of horseshoes. The farmer looked at his scythe and wondered how long until it was beaten into a sword. The wives looked at their husbands and wondered how long they would have them. The husbands looked at their wives and wondered how they could protect them. The children alone seemed to be unaffected, though they knew that something was bothering the grown-ups. They still went to school, they still came home and did their chores as it was their duty, and they still played. The adults thought that they had protected the children enough that they wouldn't know that their elders were worrying badly about how they could possibly protect their homes.
