It was just in time, too; a hairsbreadth after, and her hand would have been irrevocably altered. She shuddered. In front of her, the spine of the book writhed, the letters shifting positions until they spelled out 'the field guide to botany in middle Africa'. No more time to work on her bird calling until tomorrow, she thought. She could read her notes, and try to practice, but the books were gone back into the sister dimension, and there was no way for her to know how long it would be until they popped back into existence. She might try to find another one, but she doubted that it would be that easy. She'd only found the botany book by pure chance, and the cookbook that had--
Inspiration: I was taking out the dictionary for a word prompt when the clock ticked over and I had to start writing.
Story Potential: High.
Notes: I was really torn about the story potential. I mean, a "learning magic" story--it's been done, and quite well, by a large number of people. On the other hand, this seems like it could just be a whole ton of fun to write.
