Judges' Pool: Spec-fic
Jun. 28th, 2006 08:57 amThe judges were floating in their pool when she came down to receive their verdict. She took a deep breath, removed her sandals, tied back her hair, and stepped into the pool. At first she felt them only as movements in the current of the water, but they sped up as she moved deeper into the pool. She felt their scaly hides brushing against her legs, faster and faster. She began to fear what the verdict would be. She knew she had done wrong, but she maintained that she had not intended it. Though she felt horribly guilty, she didn't think that she deserved to die. A particularly close brush scraped some skin from her leg and she fell to her knees in the pool. The water was up to her neck, but she could--

Story Potential: Medium.
Notes: She'd obviously be sent out somehow, as an ambassador or justice-at-large sort of person. Kind of an interesting setting. Not sure why, but this is feeling more soft sci-fi than fantasy to me.
