Blue Beginnings: spec-fic

The blue was the beginning. At first all anybody noticed was that her eyes had turned blue, but they just assumed that she'd switched to using colored contacts. She got a lot of compliments at first, though after the first week the compliments shifted to saying that her eyes were looking weird, that maybe she should use a milder color change when she was at work or just hanging out and save the party eyes for the party. She didn't know what to tell them. She hadn't changed her contacts--she'd thrown them out. One morning she'd woken up and found that she could see just fine, contacts or no contacts. She hadn't even realized that her eyes had changed color until later in the day. When the stem started to grow--

Notes: No, she is *not* turning into a blueberry. Could go in horror, sci-fi, or fantasy direction. *shrug* Probably won't actually write this one, but it was fun doing the exercise. That's one creepy-looking photo.
