THE time ticked over and when the minute hand shifted, his time was fated to end. He saw it move, knowing what would happen, and yet he was unable to do anything to stop it, a single lone figure fixed in place on the clock of time. With the tick, that brief space opened up which is the prerequisite on the in between-time, and the creatures outside of time slipped through to claim their rightful prey. Still he was bound to the great clock in chains of iron, unable to break free of them, unmable to do anything, wracked by pain. For the others had fixed him there at high noon, during the time of his weakness. He expected the creatures to rip him to pieces, and so was startled when the lead bent a knee in front of him as he sat wrapped in chains--
