Big-Eyed Doll in the Shop Window: Fantasy
Feb. 26th, 2007 02:36 pmThe big-eyed doll was the attraction, the lure that brought them into the shop. They were usually all big-eyed themselves as soon as they saw the wonders inside, from dolls to space rockets to giant spires of candy canes that nobody had *ever* seen so large outside of the variety shop at a fair. They went inside, thinking that they'd just pick up that one little thing, that one doll in the window, and instead they walked out with shopping bags filled to the brim of things that they thought were wonderful and amazing. As soon as they'd gone a few blocks, they'd find that their bags held nothing but autumn leaves, or the bags themselves would vanish from their hands, leaving them to blame a shoplifter, or that bum who'd distracted them, or that sweet-looking woman who'd bumped into them and apologized so profusely.
