"Land of a thousand lakes!" the guide said with an idiotic grin, greeting his new customers. "Walleye fishing tonight?"

"Nope, thanks," the younger man said with what might have passed for a grin. "We're after some serious bone fish."

The guide looked blank. He thought about asking another question, but the older, serious-looking man just shook his head. The guide shrugged. Not his nickel. He was just here to guide them to some of the best fishing spots. Folks came from all around for them, stayed fishing while their women roamed through the Mall of America.

Inspiration: Review of Steven King's The Mist.
Story Potential: High potential. Well, the original inspiration, not this half-assed attempt.
Notes: Kind of got me thinking about how the King works the locale in, gets some real flavor, has definite "regional" horror, and why it works. It would be interesting to try something like that for the Twin Cities. An interesting challenge--and weirdly, I seem to have the best publishing success with horror stories. And I'm one of the cheerfullest people I know!
