Time Capsule Skeleton: Science Fiction

The bulletin went out in the middle of the night. "Flee." They had all sort of been awaiting for the news, ever since the town meeting that had shown the pictures of the skeleton in the time capsule buried under the courthouse. They knew what kind of skeleton it was--who didn't, that lived these days? They knew what the reaction was when those people found out something had happened to one of their own. They also knew that although 100 years ago, the aliens wouldn't have seen what was going on everywhere on Earth, these days there was no escaping their interested eyes. If it had been raining, they might have had a chance. But they'd chosen to postpone the opening ceremony until a bright sunny cloudless day.
