Indicator Lights: Genre Who Cares?
Apr. 24th, 2009 11:43 pmThey'd given her a new module, and this one didn't have a warning light to tell her when she was in broadcast mode. That was all it took. Well, that, a particularly frustrating situation, and about 3 weeks. Three weeks with the new module and her particularly frustrating situation, and she called up her speech files to (anonymously!) record and mask a (generalized!) rant about some of the things that had been bothering her. She was proud of her record at the forums; but though she had thousands of fans of her snarky (and anonymous! and nonspecific! and non-incriminating!) rants, not one--
Inspiration: Oh, my new keyboard doesn't have caps/scroll/num lock indicator lights. I don't know why it doesn't have these things, and I'm rather irked by it. On the other hand, I have the wonderful up/down volume keyboard buttons back (my ancient backup keyboard didn't have indicator lights or volume buttons, and that's worth a lot.
Story Potential: Low.
Notes: This isn't even science fiction. I mean, sure, I started to gin it up, but really it's just a modern story. Though I've noticed that most "modern" stories seem to be strangely stuck in time a decade or two ago, instead of just slightly in the future.
