Online Dating: Chick Lit Fantasy
May. 6th, 2009 11:49 amShe knew the online dating thing could be risky, but she'd always thought of those risks in terms of guys who were ten years older and a hundred pounds heavier than their profiles, not in terms of actual risk to her soul--and worse, risk to her life and limb. She really hadn't anticipated that the question about whether or not she was a virgin (part of the standard profile, no less) might lead her here--tied to a damn stake, surrounded by kindling, with a man wearing a hooded cloak made for somebody 50 lbs lighter with a different complexion waving a knife around and chanting. He leaned closer and chanted louder and she shuddered. Ugh. Fish breath. It was the worst of both worlds.
Inspiration: Seeing a message from Meetup.com (which no, isn't a dating thing).
Potential: High. But only because this sort of story seems to be doing rather well these days.
Notes: Meh. I'm not sure if short stories in this style have a market in the same way that novels do.
