Slippery Tongues: SF

Sure, the bulging eyes were disconcerting, and the (rumored to be poisonous) colorful spots on their backs, but the tongues--the tongues were dangerous in two ways. The first was relatively easy to avoid: don't move fast, and don't look like prey. There was a reason that the two species never mingled on space stations. The second was a little more difficult. Not only were they lethal with their tongues when instinct made them hunt, but they were deadly with their ability to spin words around until they were headed in the opposite direction and as confused as anybody who'd been trying to pay attention. Lawyers in their battalions--
