The Unicorn Stables: Fantasy
Sep. 25th, 2010 10:19 amHe was up to no good last night, down in the unicorn pen, getting their sparkles and magic all over him. He might get a unicorn fix now and then when handling them, and that's one thing, but deliberately using it when he knows perfectly well that a virgin maiden who finds her unicorn doesn't have that special oomph anymore won't be happy enough to come back for repeat business. A unicorn stable survives on repeat business, at least for the few years a maiden remains so. We have a couple of the crone customers, old women who became professional virgins, but we try to keep them out of the maidens' way. Ruins the experience, in some ways, if they see a wizened old woman among the unicorns. The unicorns don't care. They like 'em better.
Inspiration: Discussing how the appearance of a shillelagh in The Circus of Brass and Bone was meant to allude to a character being up to no good the night before, starting with that, wanting to go to the extreme opposite of no good (unicorns), and tossing in the Dan Savage "It Gets Betters" campaign for gay kids.
Story Potential: High.
Notes: Some fun with technical definitions of virginity and LGBTQ stuff can be had here.
