Scent would lead him back, and his arm, if he chose, since he was releasing scent clumps every few yards. But let the humans feel secure. They would be less so when they heard his proposal; best they think that they had the upper ground. The hive had learned that much about them--instead of wanting to feel united with others, they wanted to feel above. It was--interesting. And before they wiped out the intruders from their planet, they wanted to see if it was possible--

Notes: The "humans-integrating-into-alien-society" idea is always an interesting one, for me. There are traps to be avoided, but it could be good.
