Caught in the Undertow: Fantasy
Feb. 17th, 2011 10:51 amShe was caught in the undertow, with all the wonderful swirling around her and everything she wanted to be and her old life seemed so distant and far away and all she wanted to do was swim out and become more like that and less like--the net, the net that held her back. But--a distant remembrance of what she had been--she had a knife, for self-defense in case of the eels or the sharks. She reached and pulled the knife and sawed at the net. The net gave way and she poured out into the sea of magic, with fire ringing around her and everything she wanted to be and she saw reflections in her air bubbles of the person she had been formed into and she hated that person, so much. What had she thought was important? Why? None of it mattered. Here, in her essential self, she knew what was important and--
