The Raven-Headed Man
Jan. 4th, 2012 04:57 pmWhen the raven-headed man comes for you, don't try to run. He can fly, with wings made of stitched-together Armani suits, and he will catch you. Don't freeze. He isn't fooled by prey playing dead, because he has the eyes of the best ten auditors in the country. Don't fight. When the IRS came for him, he stole their teeth and now he can bite chunks of life out of your soul. Don't pretend innocence. Birds don't care about innocence. Don't try to make friends. You might succeed with the bird, but don't forget it is the heart of a businessman that beats under the feathers. Dig. Dig down, dig deep, and dig fast. You might think this is a metaphor for reaching into yourself and finding something to fight with. Maybe it is. But it is also the full and literal truth. Dig. Crawl into the cellar. Dig deep. Hide in your own grave.
