Dec. 21st, 2004 01:51 pmThe blue and red of ruby glowed through the cave as the girl slipped down the sliding rock and splashed into the shallows. Orange fish bit her toes and drank the drops of blood from her fingers.
Scream. Down the waterspout and look where she came out.
The dragon crawled behind her, moving slowly against the push of her stone allies. The water, her enemy, gnawed at her feet with quick fishy bites. And the treasure glowed and watched while the thief stole it and ran away--the thief in shining armor. The girl turned and wept.
When the dragon scoured the inside of the cavern with his breath, she dove into the water, her scorched hair flying up behind her and frizzing to the roots. Fish bit her face and scarred her, but she lived and searched for the thief in shining armor who dishonored her sister's name. Death in the kingdom.
