Missing Note: Thriller
May. 13th, 2005 03:02 pmThe piece of paper was nowhere to be found. It was just a small scrap, a slip torn from an envelope and scrawled on with a dying Bic pen, but it meant so much. The fate of the world hung on that scrap of paper, at least so far as Richey was concerned. He'd certainly not know what happened to the world if he couldn't find that scrap of paper. His world would end quite decisively, with the blow of a hammer in a dark alley or a gunshot that shattered his bedroom window. He was sweating as he ransacked his dingy third-story apartment. The paper was not to be found. He had looked everywhere. He would have been willing to swear it in a court of law.
Inspiration: Well, I've spent a good hour looking for a small slip of paper today.
Story Potential: Meh. Medium-low.
Finished Length: Short story.
Notes: Despite the "world ended" bit, this would definitely not be sci-fi. Just doesn't have that feel to it, in my opinion. It would be the story of Richey trying desperately to avoid death.
