Supersale! 50% off all specially marked items! Danni stared in longing through the window. Fifty percent off was almost enough to justify buying the one thing she'd had her eye on ever since the shop opened on Main Street. It didn't seem to have enough business to justify its location; she'd never seen more than one or two people inside. Even now, there was only one elderly woman slowly moving through the store. But the prices were high enough, she supposed, to make them able to pay rent on just one sale a month. Every day, she walked by the store on her way to school. Every day, she looked in the window. Every day, she feared to see that her favorite item was sold. So far, every day, it had still been there. The smooth silver surface of the statue beckoned to her. She knew without even asking, though, that the price was still too high.
