Spaceport Bouquet: Science Fiction
Jul. 11th, 2005 05:53 pmSnip! The shears closed around the stem of one of the flowers and cut it in two. Ronald considered the result: not bad, an arching design of cut and uncut flowers with broken glass strewn along the bottom. "It's done, Mr. Rosen!" he called. His boss came out of the back room, tilted his head to one side, and then grudgingly nodded. "Good enough. Take your break." Ronald set down the shears and headed out of the flower shop. They specialized in 'futuristic' flower designs. Face it: when you're leaving the spaceport and coming home from Mars to visit mom for Christmas, you'll get bubkiss from her if you show up with a standard-issue bouquet of roses. What you need is something a little more exotic, and if your budget doesn't stretch to gen-u-wine Martian lilies, well, sometimes all that's needed to make an arrangement exotic is a little imagination.
