Prelude: Mystery
Aug. 14th, 2005 03:44 pmIt was during the prelude that Maria had the first realization that something had gone horribly wrong with the church service. The printout that she held in her hand listed a nice musical number that she'd heard any number of times, but a long-haired, bearded man who wasn't even wearing a shirt had walked right up to the front of the church, unslung a guitar, and begun strumming as if he belonged there. He was, she determined after listening with far more attention than she would have liked, playing the prelude that was listed. She could not imagine that anybody had realized he planned to do it shirtless, however. Her lips pursed disapprovingly, and she folded gloved hands in her lap. Certainly, some of the younger generation didn't seem to understand the proper manner of dressing for church.
Inspiration: "prelude"
Story Potential: Medium-low.
Finished Length: Novel.
Notes: No, this isn't one of those "Christ comes back but none of the conservatives recognize him!" stories. Please. Grant me some credit. It isn't even a spec-fic story, I don't think. Maria notices that things are becoming quite strange at church, and begins to investigate. What does she find out? I'll probably never know, but it's more along Agatha Christie lines than Heinlein.
