Toddler on the Beach: Fantasy
Sep. 29th, 2005 02:04 pmThe sand scrunched between her toes as she toddled across the sand. Her mommy was right over there, in the water, waving. Her golden hair floated on the surface of the sea like seaweed. So pretty. She gurgled happily. Mommy would play with her. She took the first two steps into the water and shrieked with laughter as fish nibbled on her legs. "Tickle!" she said. It had been her first word and was still one of her favorites. "Tickle!" "May?" a voice called from the shore. It sounded like mommy, but it couldn't be. Mommy was waiting in the water. May floundered forward until the water was up to her chest, lapping at the happy fish printed on her brand-new swimsuit. "May?!" a note of panic had entered the voice. May didn't notice. She was going to play with mommy.

Story Potential: Hmm. I want to say high but I've been tagging too many things as high potential. Urgh. High.
Finished Length: ?
Notes: What is it with the changeling stories lately? Is it something about the fall air? Yes, little May gets stolen by some sort of sea sprite/mermaid/nymph/etc. and raised by her. The story (why do I keep wanting to say novel? Eek.) starts when she's about seventeen/eighteen and leaves the sea for some reason/is kicked out/goes to college--how the heck do I know....
