Raw Head and Blood Bones: Horror/Mystery
Nov. 20th, 2005 03:57 pm"Raw Head and Bloody Bones," murmured Eric quietly in the silence of the library.
"What?" she said. "It can't be. He's been inactive for over a century."
Eric shook his head. "It's too close. It has to be."
"Frickin' A," she said. "Bad enough that I get transferred to a serial killer unit; it had to be a serial killer unit that investigates things that go bump in the night--and kill people. Why couldn't I just have been transferred to area 51? I hear they get much better benefits and have a ton of desk jobs."
Eric smiled. "Well, you were the one who proposed that Bigfoot had killed that couple who was camping out in the mountains. And you stuck to it. Bigfoots don't usually kill, so that's not one of the creatures on our list, but it came up on the radar."
Inspiration: "Raw Head and Bloody Bones"- from the thesaurus, under the section heading [objects of fear]. I'm quite pleased that they have that as a subject heading.
Story Potential: High. Sort of.
Notes: It's high potential because I think that it could be fun to write, and it would probably sell. On the other hand, it isn't terribly original, so it's certainly not something that I would want to spend a lot of time on or expand into a novel. That territory is already staked out, and I'm no poacher.
