Dec. 2nd, 2005

Swords flashed in the sunlight as the procession's guards performed their twists and turns, gyrations of veils and the quick stomp of sandal-clad feet. Behind the guards came the dancers, whose veils were wrapped around their faces and floating around their torsos. Gleams of jewels glinted in the sunlight as they smoothly moved in circles of intricate complexity each step mapped out for months ahead of the procession to ensure that all went smoothly. Behind the dancers came the mahouts on their elephants. The elephants wore their finest, too--tall towers on top of their backs shone with colored lacquer. At a clash of the cymbals, the elephants reared in unison and hopped forward on their back feet, their front feet slashing out in what would have been a killing move if they were wearing their battle anklets. Behind the elephants came a crowd of the nobility. For this occasion, they walked on foot, though they all wore their best and tried to keep their faces proud.

Inspiration: "Cantus" by Faith and the Muse
Story Potential: Low.
Notes: This has nothing to make a story, but it could be an interesting part of world-building. I suppose that I do like an Arabian feel--probably the result of practically memorizing Arabian Nights at an impressionable age.
