Confetti Trackers: Sci-fi

The glitter of confetti rained down from the sky. It bounced off the hood of his car, and she swore. He'd be pissed when he saw that she'd let the confetti shower stick to his classic baby. The little glittery pieces might be pretty, but each of them had a unique tag that would say that his car had been here, at this time. They were damn near impossible to remove, too, given that it was illegal to tamper with the government trackers. After a particularly bad riot, everything seemed to be coated with a glisten of celebration. Different colors were used in turn. She'd heard rumors that some even sought out the places where the confetti showers might be, to collect--

Story Potential: Medium-high? I like the set-up, but there isn't actually a nugget of a story in here.
