Shattered Mirror: Genre Undetermined

"The mirror crack'd from side to side, and the Lady of Shallot cried," Mary repeated numbly. She sighed and looked away from the play script in her hand. She had no particularly desire to play the Lady of Shallot. It seemed ill-fated. Her mother had played the Lady of Shallot before her death. Perhaps it was the memory of the playbills with her mother's face, so similar to her own, that had inspired the manager to hire her for the part. Mary rose from her couch and went to look out of the window of her loft. Snow flickered around the city, making it look like a scene in black and white television with poor reception.
