The pain was gorgeous, unendurable. It painted fireworks in crystalline blue with razor-sharp edges in colors that were unnamable. Some critic would see it and be moved to tears. He would probably get laid because of it. It would no doubt sell to a fabulously rich patron who would hang it in their library and drag guests in to see it. None of them would know how it had been created. That was the artist's secret, and he knew that if it got out, others would experiment with it. Then he would find out, once and for all, whether he actually had the talent that so many praised him for, or if he had just stumbled across the ultimate technique. If he used it on a chimpanzee, would the animal be able to produce art that would be hailed as great?

Inspiration: "Repulsive in its Splendid Beauty" - Crowbar
Story Potential: High.
Notes: The chimpanzee is only a red herring. A metaphorical flourish, if you will. There will be no chimpanzees harmed in the making of this story.
