"What a lovely present!" Marjorie exclaimed blankly as she lifted out a round, unmarked can from the froth of ribbon and tissue paper. She raised an eyebrow. "But what is it? It can't be another diaper genie--I've never seen one this small." Her weak joke raised a few commiserating chuckles from the other mother's at her baby shower, but her single friends just looked blank. Marjorie sighed. She seemed to behave been rendered incapable of thinking about anything other than the baby. Her best friend, Susan, had taken her aside and warned her gently that she could expect it to get worse once the baby was born, but she shouldn't worry, it usually only lasted "about a year."
