Jan. 29th, 2006 06:57 pmThe rich smell of caramel popcorn filled the store. It had an underlying layer of chocolate fudge that she found irresistible. She often joked that she should take her wages in kind: instead of the paycheck, she should just fill her bag with candy. She'd been afraid, at first, that working around candy all day would spoil her sweet tooth, but the opposite had happened: being surrounded by candy at work had made her think she was surrounded by candy everywhere she went. The traffic lights alternating green and red made her think of the special Christmas toffees that were made of red and green. A flash of dyed red hair reminded her of licorice. The elegant architecture of her apartment building resembled spires of fine white-sugar lacework.

Notes: Cute setup, but I don't feel like taking this in a direction (horror) that might forever ruin my enjoyment of candy shops.
