Apr. 23rd, 2006 04:31 pmWhen the men stormed in through the inn's doors, she thought they were just the latest bunch of fishermen fresh in from a long haul out into the ocean. She braced herself, dried her hands on her apron, put on her best welcoming smile, and started to calculate whether they had enough beer in the house or whether she'd have to send the boy over to buy some from her competition at the other end of the village for a vastly inflated price. "And what'll it be--" she'd started to call out, when she saw the intent look on their faces. It wasn't at all the way that a fisherman home from the sea would look at a tavern inn; it was the look of a conqueror, the look of one who had acquired said property and just hadn't bothered to warn--
