The blood was the vessel, which made us the vessel, though we didn't know it for many long years. It was just a devastating horror that came out of nowhere, tearing our friends and loved ones from us, turning our children into angry strangers and our beloved ones into possible assassins. At first nobody noticed the strange up-tick in the murder column--the rates had been rising for years, and everybody knew it. It had been especially hot that summer, and everybody knew that that contributed to. Nobody understood that even then, the tiny parasites were swimming through our veins, making their homes on the adrenaline and other chemicals that rage fed them. Nobody realized when they started easing their way through the barrier to the brain and tinkering--

Inspiration: "vessel"
Story Potential: Medium.
Notes: Hmm. Has a couple of nice features--I've read of animal parasites that do actually do that, it ties to contemporary paranoia, and my own extreme loathing of parasites (grew up in Africa, remember?) would help bring it to life--but I wouldn't write it first-person (too cliche) and I don't think it's got a whole lot of legs.
