It was in the opening procedure that she first noticed a hint of a problem. She had been performing the ritual in the same prescribed way fro the last two hundred cycles, and never had anything been other than as planned. It was a simple enough matter, one of the minor rituals of the plan, one of the minor little details that safeguarded the lives and welfare of her flock. She had never even really thought about the deeper implications of the commands entered. She knew that there were other Holy Ones who had, in the past, and she respected that, but she was not as concerned with the deeper mysteries as she was with the simple here-and-now welfare of her holy children. She would rather make sure that every child was fed and clothed than wrestle with--

Inspiration: Um, I was in the middle of opening something when the time clicked over?
Story Potential: High, I think, though it could Really Really Suck if mishandled.
Notes: Far-future agrarian society, tech imbedded into the religious mysteries, and then--suddenly--they have to actually use the procedures that have been passed down faithfully. Crisis of faith? Massive, massive culture shock? Planet-wide evacuation? The possibilities are infinite! Very rich setting for a story with narrower focus, if nothing else.
