Duplicates: Science Fiction

The duplicates were out of control. We had to admit that when the station head and his six compatriots stormed in to demand what, exactly, it was we thought we were doing with the state transmitter, because clearly, this was all our fault! We stared at the three mice sitting comfortably one beside the other and had to admit that it probably was. Then we thought to count ourselves: four! We stared at each other with identical expressions of disbelief. We were used to there being only three of us--we'd made our share of student pranks, a set of triplets set loose at MIT, but this seemed to be one on us. LAater, when we questioned our new fourth, we found out that--
