Great Hag: Fantasy
May. 22nd, 2007 11:20 amNot many people have the mazel eye, she thought, turning her gaze on the little girl who looked right back with enough oomph that the old woman's lips fluttered in what might have been a smile if any there had been able to recognize it. They didn't, of course. Who would expect a Great Hag to smile? It had never been known to happen, and never would, except for the one that they wouldn't talk about. And her smile was not something that anyone would want to see, now was it? They all knew what that had foretold. They were much happier with their new and suitably dour Great Hag. The little girl's lip twitched slightly in acknowledgment, and the Great Hag's heart nearly stopped right then and there. Had she been so lucky as to find another that could one day be the Great Hag? She strode up to the parents. "I wish to speak with your little girl."
Inspiration: Mishearing of the first line of "High on Life" by Rasputina
Story Potential: Medium.
Notes: Somehow this seems to be straying into strongly Pratchett territory. Speaking of which, I miss Pratchett. He should have a new book out soon...it's been a while.
