The blood clotted inside the cup he held, and as he stared into it he knew his own fate. A glass of wine, a spill of blood, and the truth stands revealed, or so the old books said. To think that he would be brought low by his own blood. He'd seen and studied enough, he'd cut open the bodies of the dead and marveled at the strange and wonderful mechanism of the human body. He'd even examined a female body, that of a woman who died in childbirth, a camp follower, one who nobody came forth to protect from the desecration. And so he'd learned that when the blood clots so quickly inside a properly enchanted cup, it spoke of sure and soon death--

Story Potential: Low.
Notes: Though I find it an interesting character. Death clarifies the mind wonderfully, as Dr. Johnson famously said.
