The Horse and the Maiden: Fantasy
Mar. 8th, 2010 10:01 amOnce upon a time, in ancient Greece, there was a young maiden who changed souls with her horse. It did not seem to be a natural result of anything, and certainly here was nothing but the natural affection between them. Some said Athena had seen the young girl riding and was jealous of her ease. Others said that it was a gift, to allow the girl to ride as she did, which was so swiftly she would win all the horse races. Perhaps instead of exchanging souls, their souls blended, the girl and the horse. Certainly, the girl had a much shorter life than most, and died with the horse, while the horse was healthy and hale twice as long as a normal horse would be.
Inspiration: The Athenian urban legend of the horse and the maiden (http://www.rci.rutgers.edu/~edmunds/HorseText.html), though all I read was that they were buried together.
Story Potential: Low.
Notes: Meh.
