"We want to take him out on a fact-finding mission. He is the only chance we have to infiltrate one of our own among the ruling vamps and find out what they are up to with this new plan." She stared, aghast. "You have us torture him for more than a decade, and now you want to let him go? Are you insane? He isn’t one of our own and he never will be." "No, my dear, but you are. You have established yourself as his control. You are psychological dominant. All the controls and triggers we have carefully carved into him over the decades will help you keep him under control. He will go, with you as his blood-servant. That position will protect you from the others. You can control him, subtly--or unsubtly if need be. You are trained to battle the vamps, you can resist their whims in a way that will make it more believable that he is your blood-bonded. He will listen to you, he must, you have been the only stable point in his sea of pain and confusion." "But he’s mad!" "Indeed. And that is not so uncommon either, as we know, among the older and greater of them. It will seem entirely plausible, I assure you. You need not worry about that part of it." "That's not--I'm not worrying about a *part*. I'm worrying about the whole thing! This idea is mad! Crazy! You will be throwing away my life and all the good that we've gotten out of him over the last couple of decades." The bishop leaned back and shrugged. "The information we've gotten from him, and the knowledge of vamp capabilities and physiology, will not change. That we already have as much as we can get. What we have from him is done. We cannot get anything else out of him that will be new--unless we put a leash on him and take him out into the field."

Inspiration: "Slither" - Velvet Revolver
Story potential: High.
Notes: I like the potential for this one, even if vampires are perhaps burned out in genre. Lots of potential for some very dark stuff, studying effects of torture, Stockholm Syndrome, PTSD etc. Also potential for kinky sexual stuff--no actual sex, though. Making that a thing that will never happen between them makes the dynamic a lot more interesting, I think.
The ice was endless in all directions. Though she strained her eyes, she couldn't see the horizon. Behind her, the white parachute splayed across the ice. She snarled. Trust them to have thought of even that tiny detail--a parachute that was orange or green or yellow or red might have been spotted from satellite or by some other strange visitor. A white parachute? Wouldn't be noticed at all. If she was going to escape, it was going to be on her own. She felt a strong urge to shake her fist at the departing plane, but she thought that might give them some satisfaction. IT must be an emotional thing for them or some sort of weird testing ritual, but she was human, and she bloody well didn't appreciate being dumped on--

Inspiration: From my day calendar - "How to Survive If You Are Stranded on an Iceberg"
Story Potential: Low.
Notes: Heh. Kinda entertaining, but let's face it, it's kinda tough to write interesting antarctic fiction without a ton of research, and sustaining that for a short story wouldn't be worthwhile.
Pain swelled inside his heart, and he felt the dragon uncoiling and rising up, its teeth bared in a bloody grin. Scales rubbed against the inside of his skin. He cried out, but not from the knife shredding his flesh. He cried out because he knew the dragon was working its way through his veins to the break in his skin where it could split the puny shield of flesh that kept it bound. It had always been a risk, and he'd known it when he agreed to be the bearer of the dragon. He'd been guarded and protected. Every minor scrape had instantly been treated and covered, sewn tight to keep there from being a gap large enough for the dragon to escape. His flesh was puckered and seemed from all the places where stitches had been sewn into place around small scratches. No split of the skin--

Inspiration: "Pain" by Three Days Grace
Story Potential: High.
Notes: A very sheltered existence, to keep the dragon inside. And then he's kidnapped and tortured by those with Very Bad Motives. But the unexpected happens--the dragon doesn't *want* to come out? Or only a little, and without killing its host? The apocalypse is deferred? Or something, but now he must come to terms with the dragon inside. It would need to be written dark, but I can do dark....
