The Door: Fantasy?
Sep. 8th, 2005 10:03 pmThe door slid open to her push. She paused, with her hand half-extended. The door had never opened for her before. She tried it from habit. It was taught them in the schools and churches. And when you pass the door, you must try to open it. That is the way. She knew the rest of the writ, too. And when you open the door, you must step inside. And when you step inside, your trial will begin. You must endure the trial, and when you leave through the door, all will see what sort of person you are, and you will be grateful that the door has opened for you. She'd only seen one person leave the door...sort of. They hadn't walked out, they had fallen out. Their body had slumped to the ground--
Inspiration: "Log On" by Micronaut. Some silliness about VR--which this is emphatically not. Not a dream either. So there.
Story Potential: Uh...medium-high. There's some potential here, but I'm not seeing anything immediate that screams, "I am a unique and precious blossom! Write me!"
Finished Length: Novel.
Notes: She doesn't go in for a while. Not sure age. Could be skewed to either YA or A.
