"He's a stiff," the man said, moving closer to me. "He's sure to lose." I didn't buy the rhetoric. The man looked fit and strong enough to stand a chance. It was sixty-to-one odds that he could outrace the Wild Hunt, of course, but there was a stream or two on the property. He could get lucky. It had happened before. And the odds listed against him were 200-to-one. That was worse than the betting odds. The guy looked fit enough. I shrugged. "I'll put my money on the runner." The bookie took my money with a grin that said he was sure the guy wouldn't make it. I retreated to my balcony, brought out the scrying crystal, and hunched over, studying the guy, trying to figure out if there was some disability that I hadn't spotted. He moved well enough, not like he'd been injured. He could run. He didn't have a runners build, but he--

Inspiration: "Stiff" - meaning a contestant almost certain to lose, especially a race horse.
Story Potential: Low, but I kinda like the idea.
Notes: Betting on the wild hunt? Could be a fun little sidebar in a story about the fey.
